CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Ghana Epidemiological Society (GhES) and the African Epidemiological Association (AfEA) invites researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to submit abstracts for presentation at the 1st GhES and 7th AfEA Conference 2026 which would be held at Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra – Ghana from October 13- 16, 2026
Submissions are welcome across all conference tracks focusing on Epidemiology.

SCOPE OF SUBMISSION

We welcome submissions of original research, implementation science studies and case studies and programmatic experiences. Abstracts will be accepted for the following conference tracks and subthemes

1: DIGITAL SURVEILLANCE AND REAL-TIME DATA SYSTEMS FOR EARLY OUTBREAK DETECTION
Sub-Tracks
EpiTrack 1A: Digital surveillance and integrated reporting systems
EpiTrack 1B: Interoperable health information systems, dashboards, and real-time outbreak alerts
EpiTrack 1C: Data science, AI, and machine learning for epidemiology
EpiTrack 1D: Geospatial analysis and modelling for disease mapping and forecasting
EpiTrack 1E: Early warning systems and outbreak detection algorithms

3: VACCINE, PHARMACEUTICAL, AND CLINICAL TRIAL

EpiTrack 3B: Clinical trials design, conduct, and regulatory science
EpiTrack 3C: Pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology

5: NUTRITION, NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES, INJURY, AND MENTAL HEALTH AND DISEASE EPIDEMIOLOGY

4: CLIMATE, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND ONE HEALTH EPIDEMIOLOGY

EpiTrack 4A: Climate-sensitive infectious diseases and vector ecology
EpiTrack 4B: Extreme weather, displacement, and health outcomes
EpiTrack 4C: Environmental and occupational exposures
EpiTrack 4D: Air, water, and soil pollution pathways
EpiTrack 4E: Food, animal, and ecosystem interfaces and impacts on disease transmission

LANGUAGE OPTIONS

Abstracts may be submitted in English, or French.
Ensure that your abstract is clear, concise, and emphasizes the public health significance of your work.

 

Abstract Submission Requirements

1. Abstract should not exceed 300 words.
2. All abstracts should be prepared and submitted in English and French.
3. Abstract format should be structured as follows:
            a. Introduction/Background – Provide context and significance of the study.
            b. Methods – Describe study design, data sources, and analysis approach.
            c. Results – Present key findings with relevant data.
            d. Conclusion and Public Health Implications – Summarize key takeaways and recommendations.

REVIEW & SELECTION PROCESS

All submitted abstracts will undergo a review process conducted by the  Scientific Committee. Abstracts will be assessed based on:
• Relevance to conference theme and track
• Scientific rigor and methodological quality
• Innovation and originality
• Public health relevance and impact
